I have been a resident of colerain twp. since 1960. the stench has always been here and always will, no one seems able to stop this rumpke problem. it is way out of control with stench eminating 24/7. I am aware that trash needs to be disposed of, but not in heavily populated areas. Rumpke is a wise businessman and certainly can locate a landfill somewhere suitable.
  Sincerely;
    Mr. Don Wilson

Mr. Jones,
Thank you for wanting to get involved with stopping mountaintop removal coal mining. Currently, there are two pieces of federal legislation which would effectively ban mountaintop removal: House Bill 1310 The Clean Water Protection Act, and Senate Bill 696 the Appalachian Restoration Act. Contacting your representatives and senators in the U.S. House and U.S. Senate to co-sponsor this legislation is key. Without this legislation, the regulation of mountaintop removal will be determined by the presidential administration. Write your reps letters and call the D.C. and local offices. Please feel free to contact me at our Columbus Office at 614-263-4600. I can talk with you in more detail and send you more information. Thanks again!

Thanks for speaking out against the destructive practices of blasting out coal from mountain sides, effectively killing appalachians, now, who is stealing the coal in the first place? Also, can you do something to stop the coke plant going up in middletown, it seems like they tried to rush that, I would go ahead and set up a oversight board of indigenous americans to monitor the progress or lack thereof. Thanks a bunch. Mark

I agree, the EPA standards and permits do not seem to address the long-term, chronic effects. The EPA is supposed to be protecting people and the environment, yet their responses to our concerns are "there are no immediate health effects" which is exactly the problem - no one is willing to be accountable for long term consequences. We need to change the thinking and get the precautionary principle embedded into permits and standards, especially when emmissions are in proximity to children, seniors and heavily populated areas.
