COLUMBUS — “AEP and Dynegy have swapped ownership of a pair of Ohio power plants.
The transaction is another indicator of an Ohio electric market caught in a sea of change. Natural-gas and renewable power are replacing coal-fired generation to produce the country’s power, and Ohio’s utilities are gradually exiting the risky business of running power plants in deregulated Ohio.
And there’s more change to come.
Dynegy is selling its 40-percent, 312-megawatt ownership interest in the Conesville plant in Coshocton County and will take over AEP’s 25.4 percent stake, or 330 megawatts, in the Zimmer plant in Clermont County.”
