More signs directing oil and gas companies away from roads they can’t use will be installed as more road use management agreements (RUMAs) are signed with local governments.
FAIRFIELD TOWNSHIP — “The township expects to sign its fourth road use management agreement (RUMA) with an oil and gas drilling company on Thursday.
…With the Mellinger drill site on Beeson Mill Road and the Miller Road access to the Grubbs’ site under development during the past few months, trustees expressed dissatisfaction with dust, “slimey” conditions after and “roadability” issues during at least two meetings.
Chesapeake placed eight inches of No. 1 (fist-sized) stone on Beeson Mill for a base and topped it with four inches of No. 304 compaction material.
…But as the ‘process,’ as he calls it, of developing RUMAs moves ahead trustees came to the conclusion that ‘stone roads will not be acceptable in the township in the future.’”
