NEW PHILADELPHIA — “Environmental groups are once again at odds with the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District upon learning the board authorized short-term sales of water to the oil and gas industry.
Nearly 25 individuals from various environmental groups in Ohio attended the conservancy district’s board meeting Friday.
…Darrin Lautenschleger, public affairs administrator for the conservancy district, responded to protesters’ complaints stating that while board members have authorized sales, ‘no sales have been made to date from those two reservoirs.’
Lautenschleger said the board has said ‘sale of water to the oil and gas industry can be an appropriate source of withdrawal.’”
