Light, noise among concerns for SunCoke panel

Construction issues will be raised at the advisory board’s meeting today

MIDDLETOWN — “The community should learn more about the construction process at the new SunCoke Energy plant during the Community Advisory Panel meeting today, Sept. 13, at the Manchester Inn.

Participants will hear from SunCoke about the light and noise coming from the plant site, which is off Yankee Road near the Monroe border. Panel members, comprised of company representatives, area government leaders, plant opponents and proponents and nearby residents, expressed concern over work being completed early in the morning and late into the evening.

Lisa Frye, president of opposition group SunCoke Watch Inc. and a resident of Niederlander Lane in Monroe, said those living near the plant have gone ‘from heaven to hell’ dealing with the construction noise.”
