MANSFIELD — “But at least two groups distributing flyers opposing Mansfield’s environmental
bill of rights appear not to have turned in pre-election campaign finance reports detailing their spending in Richland County — making their relative ranking in the mix of campaign efforts unclear.
Both Energy Citizens in Alexandria, Va., and Mansfielders for Jobs have distributed flyers opposing the city’s proposed environmental ‘bill of rights’ charter amendment.
If approved Tuesday, the ammendment would require companies building injection wells here to obtain written consent from Mansfield City Council.
One flyer’s political disclaimer says the message was paid for by the American Petroleum Institute, listing Energy Citizens of Alexandria, Va., as a contact address.
The disclaimer on the other flyer says it was paid for by Mansfielders for Jobs. That flyer lists no contact address and no campaign treasurer. A third group, the Ohio Chamber of Commerce, took out an ad in the News Journal on Sunday opposing the charter amendment. Its disclaimer gave a Columbus address and a treasurer’s name.”
