Ohioans urge Governor Cuomo not to allow restart of fracking in New York

CLEVELAND — Twenty-nine representatives of Ohio community, environmental, and public health organizations, including Ohio Citizen Action,  have written to NY Governor Andrew Cuomo urging him  not to allow the practice of hydraulic fracturing to resume in his state.  New York has had a moratorium on fracking since 2008, but the state is reportedly now considering allowing fracking in the “southern tier,” near the Pennsylvania border.   The letter cites the likelihood that Ohio would become a dumping ground for the large quantities of fracking waste fluid that would be generated from drilling in New York.
