CINCINNATI — Noted author, activist and cancer survivor Sandra Steingraber highlighted a simple message in her October 7 lecture at Xavier University – Ohio is key to stopping fracking in Pennsylvania and her home state of New York. Because neither state allows deep well injection, the preferred method to dispose of fracking wastewater, they rely on Ohio’s close proximity and more relaxed regulatory environment to facilitate their existing and proposed fracking booms. Ms. Steingraber appeared at Xavier to commemorate their Sustainability Day observance and to honor the 50th anniversary of the publication of Rachel Carson’s seminal book, Silent Spring.
