Allison Russo is running for Ohio Secretary of State because she believes preserving voting rights is the prerequisite for fixing other problems facing the state. Her platform includes securing elections, modernizing business services, and serving all Ohioans with integrity and transparency. Russo sat on the Ohio Redistricting Commission under a 5-2 Republican majority and saw firsthand how the system is rigged against fair, representative elections. She is running directly against the current policies of deceptive ballot board practices. In addition, she brings 20 years of health policy experience to an ofÏce that too often gets treated as an afterthought. 

Consumer Rights

While a State Representative, Russo co-sponsored a bill that would amend the Ohio Revised Code to gradually increase the state minimum wage while allowing municipalities, townships, and counties to establish higher minimum wage requirements. 

Voting Rights

Worked to defeat the August 2023 Issue 1 that would have required a 60% majority vote to approve proposed Ohio Constitutional amendments, preserving citizen-led direct democracy.

Utility Accountability

Supported the House Bill 6 Repeal and Repay Act, demanding a full repeal of remaining coal-plant subsidies and quick refunds to consumers for costs deemed unlawful. 

Environment

Co-sponsored the Safe Drinking Water Act while in the Ohio General Assembly which requires the Ohio EPA to enforce limits on toxic chemicals like PFAS in drinking water. 

Anti Corruption

While Minority Leader in the Ohio House, Russo requested a formal US Justice Department investigation to uncover political corruption, arguing that the state itself lacked the capacity to investigate House Bill 6.
