Emilia Sykes for U.S. House District 13

Congresswoman Sykes (OH-13) is the only Democrat in Ohio consistently winning a swing congressional seat. She built a bipartisan coalition around a response to the tragic East Palestine train derailment to help coordinate aid for those impacted.

Consumer Rights

Emilia Sykes focuses on utility affordability for working families by hosting events to hear from constituents and by supporting the just transition to clean energy.

Voting Rights

Emilia Sykes is a member of the Voting Rights Caucus and co-sponsored  the Freedom to Vote Act, legislation to improve access to the ballot for Americans, advance commonsense federal election standards, and protect our democracy.

Utility Accountability

Sykes opposes legislation that would drive up utility bills for working families, such as voting against the partisan Energy and Water Appropriations Act. She has spent time in Congress advocating for grid investments and clean energy.

Environment

As Vice-Ranking Member of the House Transportation Subcommittee on Water Resources, Sykes has made water infrastructure a legislative priority, championing federal investment to address the national water utility funding gap and authoring legislation like the Water Reservoir Transparency Act to strengthen the safety and resilience of drinking water systems across the country.

Anti Corruption

Rep. Sykes introduced the Closing Bribery Loopholes Act, legislation that closes loopholes in the federal bribery statute by clarifying the definition of an “official act” by a public official, designed to put the power back in the hands of the American people.
