Real Ohioans. Real Conversations.

Reaching Ohio voters where they are is more important than ever. Our field and phone canvassers have been reaching out and talking to Ohioans at home or on-the-go for nearly 2 full months. In that time, we have made over 100,000 phone calls and knocked on nearly 200,000 doors!

Our canvassers are sharing stories of their conversations, because they capture exactly why this work matters.

What’s Really at Stake

One moment at the door this week really stuck with our team. A canvasser asked a middle-aged woman what issue weighed on her most this election, and she paused, welled up, and said, “I want grandchildren so bad, but my children cannot afford to start families.”

It hit our canvasser hard — he’s an uncle himself, hoping for more nieces and nephews someday, but his own siblings in their early thirties are stretched thin. They connected instantly over it, and together traced the line from affordability and workers’ rights straight to something so deeply personal: her dream of becoming a grandmother.

Turning Enthusiasm Into Action

Our canvasser talked with a voter who was fired up to vote for all of our endorsements — and he really knew his stuff on the candidates. But he mentioned getting burned before: his registration had gone inactive in a past election without him knowing. A good reminder for everyone. Our canvasser made sure to tell him to double-check his status before this voting period, and to do the same for his family — better to catch it now than at the polls.

A Voter Ready to Talk

One voter absolutely lit up at the mention of the election — she just wanted to talk. Corruption, the environment, affordability, it was all on her mind. We ended up swapping generational election stories: she remembered the buzz around Reagan, our canvasser remembered growing up during Obama’s runs. Turns out they’d both felt that same spark, and she said this Ohio election has her feeling it all over again — genuine hope and excitement.

These conversations are a small sample of what our canvassers are hearing at the door every day: voters who are motivated and looking for a reason to believe their vote will matter.
